You won't stare at a blank page. We give you a creative constraint (a prompt, a rule, a limitation) and it becomes your starting point. Constraints narrow the options so you can focus on making, not deciding.

The tight deadline is the whole point. When there's no time to overthink, there's no room for doubt either. You stop waiting to feel ready and start making something real.
27AWatch it together
Every film is screened that same evening, rough edges and happy accidents included. The room has been through the same clock and the same chaos, so nobody is judging.

Meet your host
Hi, I’m Aalap.
I'm a writer, director, and editor. I've made film projects across India and beyond, bringing strange ideas and generous people together, and having a lot of fun along the way.
I also know what it's like to sit on an idea for months because it doesn't feel good enough, or to let doubt talk me out of starting. Tiny Film Club is my way of pushing past that, for myself and for anyone who wants to create but keeps waiting for the right moment to do it.

A good kind of
creative chaos.
You don't need to know how to make a film, or even have a good idea. The prompts, the time limit, the random teams: they're all designed to get you past the voice that says "I'm not ready" or "this isn't good enough." You're practising how to create under pressure, with strangers, without waiting for permission or inspiration. We handle the structure. You bring whatever point of view is yours.
You don't need to be ready.
You just need to show up.

FAQ
Do I need filmmaking experience?
No. You don't need to know what you're doing, and that's part of the point. The format is built so anyone can contribute. Your team works with a phone and whatever skills are in the room. Showing up is the only qualification.
What if I'm not creative?
Then this is especially for you. Nobody needs a special talent to make a two-hour film with three strangers. You won't be asked to perform or be brilliant, just to show up and make something small with the people next to you.
Why is there so little time?
Time pressure is a creative tool. When you only have a couple of hours, you can't wait for the perfect idea. You start with what you have and make it work. That's where the interesting stuff happens: in the gap between "I'm not ready" and "we're rolling."
Why do you use prompts and constraints?
A blank page is harder than a strange brief. When the options are limitless, most of us freeze. Constraints focus your attention on making rather than endlessly deciding what to make. They also put everyone on the same footing: you all start from the same odd place, so nobody has a head start.
Can I come with friends?
You can, but expect to be mixed into small teams. Tiny Film Club is designed to help strangers make something together.
When is the next edition?
The next Tiny Film Club is in Goa, but the date and venue aren’t fixed yet. Leave your name on the waiting list and we’ll write to you as soon as they are — before we announce it anywhere else.
Does joining the list cost anything or hold a seat?
No. Nothing is charged and no seat is reserved — there isn’t one to reserve yet. When booking opens, everyone on the list hears about it at the same time.
Can children take part?
The event is for ages 7 and above. Anyone aged 13 or under must attend with a parent or guardian and will be placed on the same team as them. Seating is limited, so the guardian needs their own ticket too.
What happens to the films?
Every finished film is screened privately to the group that evening. A film is showcased on the event website only when its participants have opted in and the team agrees.
What should I bring?
A charged phone or camera, curiosity and a willingness to collaborate. We’ll share any final practical notes by email.
